Lol udligning af Ecuador - men det er jo typisk når jeg i pausen skrev at den var afgjort
Kenny Dalglish had scouted the young star at Bordeaux, and requested the chairman Jack Walker to begin discussions with the player’s club. He refused, and famously said, “Why do you want to sign Zinedine Zidane when we have Tim Sherwood?”

International Friendly: South Africa 0 Brazil 5

http://www.youtube.com/w…AWDj5HMXOSs

Neymar took centre stage as his hat-trick helped Brazil to a comfortable 5-0 friendly triumph over South Africa on Wednesday.

The Barcelona forward produced a wonderful individual performance at Soccer City in Johannesburg as Luiz Felipe Scolari´s men continued preparations for the FIFA World Cup on home soil with a superb display of attacking football.

South Africa were looking to make a statement after a disappointing World Cup qualifying campaign, but Gordon Igesund´s charges were unable to cope with Brazil´s masterclass.

The visitors led 2-0 at the break, first Oscar clipping past Ronwen Williams from Hulk´s superb pass before Neymar added a second with a driven effort on 40 minutes.

That advantage was extended to three almost immediately after the restart as Neymar expertly lofted over the goalkeeper.

Fernandinho added a fourth with 11 minutes remaining with an outstanding long-range strike.

Neymar then completed his first international treble since September 2012 when he scored a hat-trick against China as Brazil racked up their seventh straight victory.

Brazil largely dictated the tempo in the early stages and were duly rewarded with the opening goal after 10 minutes.

Hulk collected the ball on the right-hand side and his wonderful well-weighted pass behind the South Africa defence found Oscar, who sprung the offside trap and calmly dinked over Williams.

South Africa responded with Bernard Parker´s flash shot from the edge of the area that went wide of the far post before the hosts were dealt a further blow when centre-back Bongani Khumalo was taken off the pitch on a stretcher following a collision with Marcelo.

Shortly before the half-hour mark, Brazil wasted a great chance to make it 2-0. Neymar pounced on a misplaced pass in midfield and surged towards Williams, but the goalkeeper stood up well to deny the Barcelona forward´s chipped finish.

Neymar was proving a constant menace, however, and he finally got his name on the scoresheet five minutes before the break.

The 22-year-old drove at the South Africa defence before feinting left and drilling under Williams´ legs from the left of the box.

And it took just 22 second-half seconds for Neymar to grab his second of the game, when he latched on to Fred´s flicked pass and finished with a superb lob over Williams.

Willian - who had replaced Hulk at half-time - came close to a third soon after, the Chelsea man curling wide from the left-edge of the area.

South Africa replaced Parker with Ayanda Patosi shortly after the hour mark and he almost had an immediate impact with a close-range strike that forced Julio Cesar into a fine reaction save.

Fernandinho added further gloss to the scoreline with a fierce 30-yard effort that nestled in the top corner. And Neymar grabbed his third in the closing stages when he swept home Jo´s knock down.

Brazil have now lost just once in 19 games and will play further friendlies with Panama and Serbia before the World Cup.

Scoreline harsh on South Africa, Scolari admits

Brazil head coach Luiz Felipe Scolari believes South Africa were unlucky to be on the wrong side of a 5-0 drubbing on Wednesday.

Barcelona forward Neymar stole the headlines with a hat-trick at Soccer City in Johannesburg on Wednesday, while Oscar and Fernandinho were also on the scoresheet, the latter netting with a superb 30-yard drive.

Scolari, however, admits he is surprised that South Africa are not going to be at the FIFA World Cup, which starts in Brazil later this year, and paid credit to the home side´s performance.

"The score doesn´t tell the whole story of the game," he said.

"South Africa played very well, they moved the ball very well, too. It´s a surprise to me that they are not at the World Cup, looking at the way they played.

"The difference between the two teams was just that we have some very special players."

Despite praising South Africa, Scolari believes Brazil are in good shape ahead of the World Cup and feels there are just one or two issues to resolve before the marquee tournament.

He added: "Normally, any coach would say that every area of the team needs improving, because we always want to improve everywhere.

"But we were very happy with what we saw. There are only some small things to address now and they will be worked on in training.

"I was very happy with what I saw. There were a lot of times when the players were all working for the team, not just for themselves.

"It is only then that the special players can take advantage as the guys who work hard make spaces for them."

Scolari thinks facing South Africa was particularly relevant considering that Brazil will face African opposition in the World Cup in the form of Group A rivals Cameroon.

"Obviously that game (against Cameroon) will be much more important and we will be playing for three points," he continued. "I´ve seen many games in African football, especially in South Africa, and I am impressed.

"I´ll see the video of Cameroon against Portugal (on Wednesday)."

Brazil have now lost just once in 19 matches and face further friendlies with Panama and Serbia ahead of the World Cup.

International Friendly: Romania 0 Argentina 0

Argentina had a bizarre refereeing decision to thank for avoiding defeat with a 0-0 stalemate in Romania on Wednesday.

Despite their embarrassment of attacking riches, Alejandro Sabella´s side struggled to create clear-cut chances against a dogged Romanian defence in Bucharest and the hosts were unfortunate to see Alexandru Maxim´s first-half goal disallowed.

Maxim fired home at the back post after collecting a superb cross from Alexandru Matel around 10 minutes before half-time, only for referee Gianluca Rocchi to rule the effort out after his assistant inexplicably flagged for an infringement.

As an out-of-sorts Lionel Messi - who appeared to vomit on the pitch shortly after kick-off - toiled, Sergio Aguero offered Argentina´s main threat but the Manchester City man was foiled by stoic defending on three occasions before being withdrawn early in the second half.

Messi had the first effort on goal with a 25-yard free-kick that was deflected wide after four minutes, but Romania grew in confidence as the visitors´ captain and talisman struggled to exert his usual influence.

After Gonzalo Higuain had a shot smothered by Ciprian Tatarusanu, the hosts began to carve out chances, with skipper Ciprian Marica forcing Sergio Romero to tip his looping header over the bar on 21 minutes.

Romania were served a reminder of the firepower at Sabella´s disposal when Aguero´s effort from Higuain´s cut-back was blocked, although it was the hosts who spurned the best chance of the first half in the 33rd minute.

Matel´s superb delivery from the right was met with a thumping header from Maxim, which was somehow kept out by Romero from point-blank range.

That same duo combined again shortly after for the game´s main talking point, as the assistant referee decided that Maxim´s well-taken left-footed shot should not stand.

Aguero provided a moment of real quality six minutes before the interval, as the forward surged past three defenders only to see his effort from 10 yards well saved by Tatarusanu.

City striker Aguero again went close almost immediately after the restart as he raced onto Javier Mascherano´s throughball and rounded club-mate Costel Pantilimon - who replaced Tatarusanu at the break - only to see his shot from an acute angle blocked by Florin Gardos.

Sabella elected to withdraw Aguero for Rodrigo Palacio just before the hour, and with him went much of Argentina´s attacking threat.

However, it was Palacio who missed Argentina´s best chance of the match shortly after when he side-footed wide form close range, before Angel di Maria looped a shot over after latching on to another splendid Mascherano pass.

Pantilimon was again called into action in the closing stages as he produced an incredible stop to divert substitute Ezequiel Lavezzi´s half-volley over the bar, but Sabella was left to reflect on a below-par performance in Argentina´s final friendly before he names his FIFA World Cup squad.

International Friendly: Colombia 1 Tunisia 1

http://www.youtube.com/w…kDotsS35PFo

Colombia missed the clinical finishing of Radamel Falcao as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Tunisia in Barcelona on Wednesday.

The Monaco striker is doubtful for the FIFA World Cup in Brazil due to a knee injury and he watched on from the stands at Espanyol´s Cornella-El Prat Stadium in a friendly that gave his potential replacements - if he is ruled out - a chance to stake their claim.

Falcao´s club-mate James Rodriguez handed the side ranked fifth in the world the lead from the penalty spot after Victor Ibarbo had been brought down by Tunisia goalkeeper Farouk Ben Mustapha.

That challenge resulted in Ibarbo being replaced with what appeared to be a back injury and Tunisia equalised in the first half when Bastia striker Wahbi Khazri took advantage of a mistake from keeper David Ospina to finish clinically.

Defender Luis Amaranto Perea saw red following a second bookable offence nine minutes from time for Colombia, who still could have won it late on through Adrian Ramos, making his first international appearance in two years. However, Tunisia were good value for a draw that raised morale after they failed to qualify for the World Cup.

Colombia coach Jose Pekerman gave Sevilla striker Carlos Bacca and Cagliari´s Ibarbo a start, with Teofilo Gutierrez dropping to the bench.

The South American nation started brightly and were in front after 20 minutes, Rodriguez calmly slotting home the spot after Ibarbo was clattered by Ben Mustapha.

The unfortunate Ibarbo was unable to continue as a result of that incident and so on came Ramos to make his international return.

Tunisia responded and Ospina had to be alert to deny Issam Jemaa 22 minutes in, before Yassin Mikari also forced a save from the Colombia keeper.

Ospina had a moment to forget 10 minutes before half-time, though, as he flapped at a high cross from Mikari and Khazri was on hand to punish him with a well-executed lob.

The keeper was taken off at the break, with veteran stopper Faryd Mondragon replacing him, and Abel Aguilar also entered the fray along with Gutierrez at the expense of Mario Yepes and Bacca.

Rodriguez was brought down in full flow and fired the resulting free-kick wide early in the second half.

Juan Cuadrado was then denied by Ben Mustapha at his near post after 69 minutes as Colombia went in search of a winner.

Perea was given his marching orders for a second caution but Ramos almost snatched the win for Colombia, only to fire wide after being played through by Rodriguez.
