Wallyson ´at home´ at São Paulo

New São Paulo signing Wallyson has spoken of his joy at joining the Paulista giants, having quickly settled in at the Morumbi.

Wallyson, 24, arrives after a successful spell at Cruzeiro, which unfortunately fizzled out after a serious knee injury suffered in mid-2011.

Now, with his fitness problems hopefully behind him, the striker is hoping to return to former ways under a familiar face in Ney Franco—his former Atlético Paranaense manager.

"I already feel at home, I know everybody," Wallyson told reporters.

"Ney Franco has always been an open coach with his players. He gives advice to the youngsters and always offers help."

Wallyson is one of several new attacking options to arrive at São Paulo ahead of the 2013 season, with former Figueirense striker Aloísio also joining, as well as Flamengo´s Negueba.

The latter, though, has already been ruled out for much of the season with knee ligament damage.

Another forward tipped to join in the near future in Napoli´s Eduardo Vargas, who should complete a one-year loan move in the coming days.

Hannover sign França from Coritiba

Hannover have completed the signing of defensive midfielder França from Coritiba.

The 21-year-old has signed for die Roten on a three-and-a-half-year deal, keeping him with the club until 2016, and is expected to join up with his new team-mates on Tuesday.

The Bundesliga outfit have already recruited Johan Djourou and Andre Hoffmann this winter and director of sport, Jorg Schmadtke, has praised the quality of the club´s new Brazilian acquisition.

He told the club’s official website: "França, at 1.90 metres and 88 kilograms, is in good physical condition and he brings with him a great passion for the game.

"He is a rugged-type of player who will, in my opinion, forge a career with us."

Hannover coach Mirko Slomka also spoke with optimism of França´s potential impact on his side, who sit 11th in the league with 23 points from 17 games.

The 45-year-old added: "I look forward to working with França and I am sure that he is motivated and ambitious and looking to seize his chance.

"I have great experience working with South Americans and I appreciate their commitment and their enthusiasm for learning. I am convinced França is no different."

França, whose real name Welington Wildy Muniz dos Santos, spent some time on loan at Série B side Criciúma last season.

Vágner Love: I leave Flamengo with a heavy heart

Vágner Love has confirmed his return to Russian side CSKA Moscow and stated that he will leave Flamengo with a "heavy heart".

The 28-year-old announced his departure from the Rio de Janeiro club on Saturday night, following a meeting with Flamengo president Eduardo Bandeira de Mello.

Love, who joined the Rubro-Negro for €10 million last January, has denied that the move is a result of a falling out with the club.

He said: "There have been reports in the media saying I am unhappy with the club but that is not true.

"I met with the president twice and when we received this offer, we´ve seen that it was good for both parties and agreed to accept it.

"I will leave with a heavy heart because everyone knows my love for Flamengo."

It is believed Flamengo have struggled to keep up with the payment plan negotiated by former president Patricia Amorím, which was €1 million up-front and six instalments of €1.5 million.

Flamengo have been offered a compromise solution with Love returning to Russia after one year, but the striker has vowed to play for Flamengo again one day.

"You can be sure that this story is not over. I leave the door open for a return," he concluded.

Bandeira would also like to see the former Brazil forward, who scored five goals for the Seleção, back at the Engenhão in the future.

He said: "I am a big fan of his and hope that one day I can welcome him back."

Love spent seven years with CSKA between 2004 and 2011, but became unsettled in 2009 and spent spells on loan in Brazil with Palmeiras and Flamengo.

Neymar: I have no agreement with Barca

Neymar has revealed that there is no agreement in place between Santos and Barcelona for his transfer to the Catalan giants in the next two years.

The Santos star has dismissed reports of a pre-agreement between the two clubs and reaffirmed his commitment to the club.

In an interview with El Pais, Neymar scotched reports of a €40m fee and a penalty if Barcelona did not take up the deal.

"I have no agreement with Barcelona or anyone else," said the 20-year-old Seleção star after winning the newspaper´s prestigious ´King of South American Football´ award.

"The only thing I have signed is with Santos, and I´m happy. They´re a big club with whom I´m under contract until 2014.

"The most important thing is to be happy, and I´m with my family. My objective is to help Santos and Brazil, and the best will come with hard work."

Neymar is contracted to Santos until 2014 and the player has insisted his aim is to stay in Brazil until after the 2014 World Cup.

Cristian Cuevas

Who?

Name: Cristián Cuevas Jara
Date of Birth: 2 April 1995
Nationality: Chilean
Position: Left midfielder
Club: O’Higgins

Making his Name:

A young Cristián Cuevas began his footballing journey at local side Club Deportivo Santa Isabel, before his parents enrolled him in the academy of Primera División side O’Higgins at the age of six. Having come through the youth ranks at the club, often playing above his age level, Cuevas would go on to make his senior debut in the closing minutes of a 5-1 defeat to Colo Colo on 9 May 2011—shortly after his 16th birthday.

The player, nicknamed “Simby” due to his supposed resemblance of the Lion King character Simba as a child, has since gone on to make just eight more appearances in all competitions. He is now, though, expected to become an important member of the first-team squad in 2013.

In November 2012, having caught the eye playing for Chile Under-20′s during the 2012 Milk Cup in Northern Ireland, Cuevas underwent trials with Premier League giants Chelsea (Photo via. @chelseayouth). He has since returned to Chile, for now, but speculation over a future move still persists.

Shortly afterwards, in January 2013, Cuevas was selected to play at the 2013 South American Under-20 Championships. He has, to date, started both his side’s opening two games at the competition as a left winger, scoring in the final moments of a 2-0 victory over Bolivia.

Style of Play:

Able to play anywhere on the left-flank, or even as a central midfielder, Cuevas has predominantly featured as a left midfielder. Stocky and of average height, the Chilean youngster offers power and competitiveness to his side—with the player himself citing Argentina’s Javier Mascherano as his idol.

Cuevas offers more than just power, though, with good technical ability and a desire to attack that make him a threat as a left-winger. He has shown with the youth ranks of the Chilean national team that he is capable of scoring goals, largely due to his crisp ball-striking and timed runs into the area.

While capable of playing infield, it is on the flank where he is best utilised. His left-footed delivery into the box is generally of a high-standard, while he possesses enough pace and trickery to worry defenders. It appears likely, at present, that his future lies higher up the pitch in a left-wing role.

What Others Say:

“It’s an honour for the region and the city [to see him with the Chile Under-20 side]. He is a young kid with a long way to go. For now, nobody has bought anything and I have told him to keep working with humility and discretion. Things will be sorted between Chelsea and O’Higgins only.” - Ricardo Abomohor, O’Higgins club president, January 2013.

“There is no other like him in Chile. He is a left wing-back with great power, who can time his runs and score goals. They [Chelsea] have been following him for some time.” - Pablo Hoffman, O’Higgins director, November 2012.

The Future:

It remains to be seen what the future holds at club level for Cuevas, with indications that his link to Chelsea may yet come to fruition. His trial was brief, but reports in Chile since his return have suggested that the London club are interested in capturing his services.

Speaking of the trial in the Chilean media, he said: “The experience of the week was simply spectacular. I saw things that, in Chile, are nowhere near the level that Chelsea have. I approached the week with maturity, in order to keep improving and arrive there in the future.” (El Tipografo, Dec. 2012)

As Cuevas is not yet 18 years old, an international transfer could only be completed in the summer of 2013 and, judging by O’Higgins’ president Ricardo Abomohor’s recent quotes (featured above), a move is still very much on the table.

Before then, Cuevas will look to establish himself within the O’Higgins first-team setup and, if all goes to plan, will have the prospect of an Under-20 World Cup to look forward to this summer.

Kenny Dalglish had scouted the young star at Bordeaux, and requested the chairman Jack Walker to begin discussions with the player’s club. He refused, and famously said, “Why do you want to sign Zinedine Zidane when we have Tim Sherwood?”

Vasco vinder 1-0 over Ajax i soppebassinet São Januário. Wendell scorede på låget i 1. halvleg. 35-årige Pedrinho tog afsked med sit publikum med bl.a. at tildele Christian Eriksen en "hat". Welcome to Brazil :)
