England´s Jagielka: We don´t know a lot about Neymar

England and Everton defender Phil Jagielka has admitted that they do not know much about Seleção star Neymar.

Neymar is leading the Seleção into the friendly clash with England at Wembley on Wednesday to celebrate the FA´s 150th anniversary.

But Jagielka revealed they are studying videos of the Santos sensation: "I don´t know a lot about Neymar. We don´t see a lot of footage. He plays in Brazil so it is tough for us.

"But we have video analysis people when we meet up with England and they will have plenty of footage for us to review.

"They will pick out his good points and bad ones. I am sure the good points will be going on for hours."

The defender admitted that he may not get his chance at the friendly: "We have four or five really good centre-backs who are competing for both positions.

"It is not even like one is nailed down and the other is available. I guess that is what the manager enjoys.

"He has got a bit of everything; youth, experience, people who are playing in the Champions League.

"It is down to us to try and put your authority down and get that place."

Alexandre Pato scores on Corinthians debut

Alexandre Pato has paid tribute to the Corinthians supporters after scoring three minutes into his debut during the Timão’s 5-0 rout of Oeste.

The 23-year-old took to the field as a second-half substitute in place of Paolo Guerrero, who had already scored two, and found the net when he shot twice from the angle.

Pato is thrilled to have hit the ground running following his €15 million switch from AC Milan last month and has hailed the fans for helping him.

He said: "The whole team did great today. The first phase of my preparation is done. I know I still have to improve, but I´m really calm and I´m sure that lots of good things will happen along with the team and the fans.

"I´ve had good results in all of my first matches for a team, be it Internacional, Milan or the Brazil national team, and today was no different. I want to keep working and showing my value.

"I only think about playing football, in doing what I know to help the team. The fans screaming my name helped a lot. I only have to thank the fans."

The Seleção star joined the Club World Cup winners following five injury-ravaged years at San Siro, and has been undertaking a special training program designed to nurture him back to full fitness.

Costa Rica goes right back to work

SAN JOSE, Costa Rica - For a team that just won a significant competition, Costa Rica did not have the luxury of time to savor its triumph. That´s the way it goes on occasion in international football. There is always another game, another tournament and another mountain to climb.

Last Sunday, the Ticos captured the UNCAF Copa Centroamericana - Central America´s biennial championship for national teams that also doubled as the region´s qualifying tournament for the 2013 CONCACAF Gold Cup - by defeating Honduras 1-0 in the final.

Costa Rica lifted the trophy for a seventh time, extending its own record and more than doubling that of its nearest competitor, Honduras.

Head coach Jorge Luis Pinto expressed satisfaction with his team´s performance.

"We had six, seven chances to score, Honduras threatened the goal only once, we should be happy for what was on the field today," the 60-year-old Colombian said after the game. "We searched for the title and we did it with hard work.

"Hopefully, there are many more to come."

Pinto, though, surely realized that the opening match in the final round of CONCACAF World Cup Qualifying loomed large. The Tricolor will travel to Panama for a February 6 encounter at the Estadio Rommel Fernandez.

Though the Copa Centroamericana ended on the highest of notes, an equally productive performance to open the last leg on the road to Brazil 2014 is fundamental. Focus must shift quickly to Panama, a team that Costa Rica did not face in the UNCAF event.

"Right now, we are thinking about the World Cup, we all want to go to Brazil, so we work hard every practice to improve and get the points needed to qualify us for the next World Cup," commented New York Red Bulls defender Roy Miller. "It is an important time for everyone and we hope to start on the right foot.

"Panama is a tough team, we know it will be a difficult game, it has very good players with great potential, we´ll try to give our all to get the game."

According to FIFA records, Costa Rica and Panama have squared off 10 times in World Cup Qualifying, with the Ticos posting six wins, including the previous three meetings.

To keep the streak going, Pinto called in 22 players to camp, 14 of them based abroad.

Miller, Christian Bolaños, Alvaro Saborio and Michael Umaña are the only members of the current roster that played in the last qualifier between the sides, a 3-1 win by the visiting Costa Ricans on September 3, 2005. Saborio struck for the game´s first goal just a minute before the break.

With three of the six teams in the CONCACAF Hexagonal reigning from Central America, this early battle between two of them could set the tone for how the region may perform in future match days.

Costa Rica will hope that the tenor created only a week ago from its win in the Copa Centroamericana final against another Central American power -- Honduras -- carries over harmoniously.

Jamaica reveals CONCACAF U20 roster

KINGSTON, Jamaica -- The Jamaica Football Federation announced Wednesday the roster for its under-20 national team´s participation in the finals of the CONCACAF Under-20 Championship, which will take place in Puebla, Mexico, February 18-March 3.

The 20-member squad includes six players from the under-17 team that qualified for the 2011 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Mexico. Zhelano Barnes, Nico Campbell, Omar Holness, Romario Jones, Andre Lewis and Alvas Powell, each of whom played at least one game in the global event, were retained by head coach Luciano Gama.

"When you look at the composition of the squad, a number of youngsters who were a part of the National Under-17 squad that went to the World Cup, from that unit, we have approximately 40 per cent that have made the transition to the National Under-20, and again that speaks volume for the continuity of the program itself," said Wendell Downswell, who was head coach of that outstanding U17 side that posted a tie and two narrow one-goal losses in Mexico.

University of Hartford´s Damion Lowe, son of former Jamaican national team star Onandi Lowe, was also selected.

The young Reggae Boyz were drawn into Group C at the CONCACAF tournament and will face Puerto Rico (Feb. 19) and Panama (Feb. 23).

Boyz bow into action against Mexico’s daunting altitude

MEXICO CITY, Mexico — In his bid to get the Reggae Boyz as close to acclimatisation as feasibly possible in limited time available, Dr Carlton Fraser hit the ground running immediately upon the players’ arrival in Mexico City last evening.

“The main thing is the altitude, which will give the home team the advantage,” was Dr Fraser’s main concern.

Normally individuals would need about two weeks to get fully acclimatised in this sort of environment, 2,240 metres above sea level, but with Jamaica’s opening CONCACAF World Cup Qualifying game slated for 8:30 pm (9:30 pm Jamaica time) on Wednesday, Dr Fraser is being proactive.

He has identified three main areas which he hopes will give the players the best possible chance of performing to their optimum — hydration, generation of vascular pigments and endothelial function, which has to do with the circulation system.

The team doctor told the Jamaica Observer yesterday that research has indicated that individuals should consume 13 to 15 glasses of fluid per day and he plans to aid the process with supplementation of vitamins, including iron, Folic Acid and B12.

Dr Fraser was also contemplating light gym workout for last evening, with emphasis on pressure breathing. However, he faced a challenge as though all players were expected into the North American country last night, their travel arrangements saw them arriving in four groups at different times.

However, it was his hope to meet with the players as soon as they arrived at the team’s base, the Radisson Paraiso Hotel, some 24 kilometres from the Benito Juarez International Airport, to inform them of his plans to get them the best possible chance of combating the high altitude.

Donovan Ricketts, Je-Vaughn Watson, Jermaine Taylor, and Ryan Johnson were scheduled to arrive at 5:20 pm (6:20 pm Jamaica time); Jermaine Johnson, Nyron Nosworthy, Damion Stewart, Adrian Mariappa, Marvin Elliott, Joel McAnuff, Garath McCleary, and Theo Robinson were slated for 6:20 pm (7:20 pm Jamaica time) arrivals, while Rodolph Austin and Dane Richards were booked for 8:20 pm (9:20 pm Jamaica time) arrivals, and Dwayne Miller, Omar Daley, Tramaine Stewart, Demar Phillips and Jason Morrison were in the last batch slated to arrive at 10:15 pm (11:15 pm Jamaica time).

The four local-based players — Jermaine Hue, DuWayne Kerr, Alvas Powell, and Andre Lewis along with the rest of the delegation — arrived in the first batch just after 4:15 pm.

The team is expected to hold its most significant training session today at 4:30 pm at a nearby facility. Tomorrow the Boyz will practise at the Azteca Stadium for 45 minutes.

Wednesday’s game marks the first of 10 for the Boyz in this final phase involving six countries — USA, Honduras, Panama and Costa Rica being the others. The top three teams on points at the end of the campaign in October earn automatic berths to the FIFA World Cup Finals in Brazil next summer, while the fourth-placed team earns another shot at Brazil via a home-and-away play-off with the winner from the Oceania region in November.

Costly fik næsten fuld spilletid for Veria i weekenden.

Sv: Sydamerikansk fodbold i Danmark - hvad mener I?

http://www.youtube.com/w…PicL9Ao_uk#!

https://www.youtube.com/…3EPyHF4bN2g

Efter 2 nederlag i de to første kampe fik Pérez Zeledón endelig oprejsning. Generaleños vandt med 3-0 hjemme over La Tromba del Caribe. Argentinske Luciano Bostal, colombianske Juan Camillo Aguirre og costaricanske Kendall Watson stod for hjemmeholdets mål.

http://www.youtube.com/w…er_embedded

https://www.youtube.com/…OLizkvJBYKI

http://www.youtube.com/w…er_embedded

http://www.youtube.com/w…er_embedded
