Shocking !!!!

Inter querría a Gino Peruzzi

Adriano: I would love to play alongside Neymar at Barca

Barcelona defender Adriano has admitted he would relish the chance to line up alongside compatriot Neymar at Camp Nou.

The Santos ace is continually being linked with a move to Catalunya and is widely expected to move there after the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

Adriano, who has been at the club since 2010, spoke highly of Neymar and revealed he wants the 21-year-old to sign next season.

He said: "I like him a lot. I would love to be able to play with him and for him to be part of our dressing room.

"He´s one of the most important players in Brazil right now.

"We´d like him to come next season, but these are things between him and the club, there are still things pending."

The Brazil wing-back is keen to extend his stay with the Blaugrana, with his deal due to expire in June 2014, and feels a deal could be imminent.

The 28-year-old added: "I´ve been on the periphery with regards my contract renewal up to now, in these eight meetings, because I´ve been focused on the Champions League.

"The club want what´s best for both of us, my wish is to continue here. We are close to reaching an agreement and we hope it can be closed in the next few days."

Kak√° reiterates desire to remain at Real Madrid

Real Madrid playmaker Kak√° has made it clear he has no intention of leaving the Bernabeu as he wants at least one good season at the club.

The Brazil international has failed to reproduce the form that saw him named the 2007 Ballon d´Or winner since his mega-money move to Madrid.

Kak√° was almost sold back to Milan last summer and rumours have begun to circulate again that he may be on his way out, but the 31-year-old has reiterated his desire to remain at the club.

He told Marca "My priority is to continue for another two years with Real Madrid.

"I would love to have the opportunity to play more often. My first option is this and if it is not possible, then I will look at alternatives.

"I want to have at least one good season with Real Madrid, it is a personal challenge. I do not know about others but I have a feeling of frustration here.

"I will wait until the end of the season to know I will continue, that is to say, if the conditions here will provide me with the chance to play more.

"I do not want to return to Brazil. I want to remain in Europe and perhaps later on if it is possible a may then think about returning."

Flamengo legend Zico has urged the Brazil international to leave the club and join the Rubro-negro.

Soccer-Struggling Boca boosted ahead of River clash

BUENOS AIRES, May 3 (Reuters) - Boca Juniors appear to have recovered their fighting spirit just in time for the "superclasico" at home to arch enemies River Plate at La Bombonera on Sunday.

A gutsy 1-0 home win over holders Corinthians in the Libertadores Cup on Wednesday has lifted the gloom at Boca after 10 league matches and three months without a victory.

River come to the Bombonera cauldron for the first time since a 2-0 defeat there in 2011 marked the start of their slide towards their first relegation.
The first clash between the sides since River´s promotion was at the Monumental in October when Boca recovered from a two-goal deficit in the last 15 minutes for a 2-2 draw.

River have had a far better "Final" league championship than Boca, challenging for the title with six wins in 11 matches and unbeaten in their last five.

"We´re happy with the way the team played. We did things properly," said midfielder Walter Erviti, who took Boca´s playmaking duties against Corinthians in the absence of injured Juan Roman Riquelme.

"But the clasicos are different, let´s hope we can win and not suffer as much (as at River)," added Erviti, who scored the last-gasp equaliser in October.

Boca fans thought their team would instantly become world beaters again when record title-winning coach Carlos Bianchi took the helm again this year nearly a decade after the end of his previous spell at the club.
Instead they have struggled, whereas Ramon Diazs return to River, where he too holds the record for most titles won, has had the opposite effect boosting a team that needed to shake off the trauma of relegation.

Unlike Boca, River only have domestic competition to focus on.

"They will be rested," Bianchi said. "They have one commitment per week."
Riquelme is unlikely to play on Sunday after Bianchi said he was thinking of using him instead for the return leg against Corinthians in Sao Paulo in 12 days time.

"Better if Roman doesn´t play," said River´s 20-year-old playmaker Manuel Lanzini, who spent last season on loan at Brazilian champions Fluminense.
"From a dead ball he can settle the match, he´s a fantastic player... But we shouldn´t worry about who´s on the other side and do our own things well."

River are without former France striker David Trezeguet, who will not be available again until next season after knee surgery.

Vucetich, Monterrey look to Liga MX

MONTERREY, Mexico - Despite winning a third straight CONCACAF Champions League just hours earlier, Monterrey and head coach Victor Manuel Vucetich were back at training on Thursday, preparing for Saturday´s Liga MX Clausura encounter against Cruz Azul.

There is no rest or time to celebrate when the desire to capture more silverware remains as the main objective of a football club. Strict adherence to that philosophy goes a long way in explaining Monterrey´s extraordinary success.

Vucetich made it clear at a press conference that he is not content to settle this year for the CONCACAF trophy solely, he wants to be Mexican champion as well.

"We seek to be champions (of Mexico), not just reach the Final," said Vucetich. "The intention to be champions is very firm. If we succeed or not is another situation, the goal remains that."

Monterrey (23 points) currently sits ninth in the league table, one place outside the playoff picture, heading into the final weekend of league play. Eighth-place Queretaro (24 points), however, will be relegated at the end of the season. Under that scenario, Liga MX rules preclude the club from participating in the Liguiila.

Regardless, the Rayados will automatically finish in eighth with a draw, if Queretaro loses to visiting Puebla, also on Saturday. If Monterrey loses and 10th place Pachuca defeats host Jaguares on Friday, both teams will finish with 23 points. Unless there is a dramatic swing in goal difference, Vucetich´s side will advance to the knockout stage.

The 57-year-old coach reiterated his confidence in the squad in advance of Cruz Azul´s visit, while expressing a sharp sense of the challenge ahead.

"This is the team we always have and we always rely on this roster," added the former Pachuca chief, who has been with Monterrey since 2009. "We know that the team has the potential to be able to excel at any time.

"We always talk about the situation and that we have not had the time of other teams, we´ve had periods of short rest and preparation."

Facing sixth-place Cruz Azul at the Estadio Tecnologico will not be easy. La Maquina has won four-consecutive league games, posting shutouts in the last three.

"It´s a team that is closing well and playing good football," said Vucetich. "We measure ourselves against this type of team because it gives us a real parameter."

And that comment perfectly demonstrates the reason why Monterrey continues to succeed. Rather than lean on past triumphs for future results, it is constantly on the lookout for ways to improve and, most importantly, win.

Intro til chiles superclasico s√łndag....

The Classic: Colo Colo-Universidad de Chile

No other game in Chilean football can match the fervour and expectation of a Colo Colo-Universidad de Chile derby.

Such is the antipathy between the Santiago clubs that even when the football is not of its usual high standard, the fixture is elevated by the sheer commitment and will-to-win of both sides. As you would expect in a derby of this importance, fans, not just from the respective clubs, but from right across the country take sides and roar on their favourites.

On Sunday at the capital´s Estadio Monumental, Colo Colo played host to arch rivals Universidad de Chile in what promises to be a thriller. The hosts come into the game in a rich vein of form and strengthened their grip on a place in the play-offs with a 4-2 win courtesy of goals from Humberto Suazo (2), Alexis Sanchez and Alvaro Ormeno, with Marcelo Salas and Luis Figueroa replying for the under-pressure visitors.

Colo Colo had received a further boost in the week running up to the game by securing their berth in the semi-final of the Copa Sudamericana - another sore point with visiting fans - although history has repeatedly shown that the form book is of limited use in predicting classic derbies. If you know the history

El Club Social y Deportivo Colo-Colo was founded on 19 April 1925 after Chilean international David Arellano and a group of players decided to sever ties with Club Magallanes, having fallen out with some of the older members.

The new club decided to name themselves after the famous Mupuche Indian chief who fought with great bravery and intelligence against the Spanish in the 16th century. White was chosen for the club´s shirts as a symbol of purity, with the black shorts intended as a mark of seriousness.

Just over two years later, on 24 May 1927, El Club Deportivo Universitario came into existence after three sports clubs, Nautico Universitario, Internado FC and Universitario de Atletismo y Federacion Universitaria, joined forces.

The new club chose a chuncho (a species of owl) as its badge in order to symbolise wisdom and spiritual harmony. It was only in 1937 that they changed their name to Club Deportivo Universidad de Chile following a decision by students of the rival Universidad Catolica, who hitherto played their football with Club Universitario, to go their separate way and start their own university side.

The birth of a rivalry

The first meeting between the sides ended in a somewhat predictable 6-0 win for the experienced Caciques over a fledgling Universidad de Chile side on 7 August 1938.

That emphatic win, which still remains the biggest in games between the pair, gave no hint of the extraordinary rivalry that was to ensue. La U´s first tasted victory in the derby with a 2-1 win in 1939, though it would be another six years before they would repeat the feat, also with a 2-1 scoreline.

As legend has it, the enmity that exists today had its roots in a Metropolitan league clash between the sides on 12 May 1940. During the course of the game, which the Caciques won 1-0, Colo Colo´s Alfonso Dominguez landed a punch on Jose Balbuena in retaliation for a particularly nasty foul by the Universidad de Chile player.

Over the years the derby has thrown up a host of other interesting facts and figures. The most goals the Chunchos ever scored against the old enemy were six, in a thumping win in 1962 (6-3), although their most emphatic victory was their 4-0 triumph in 2004. The university side can also boast the derby´s top-scorer in Carlos Campos (12 goals), who managed one more than Colo Colo´s Manuel Munoz (11). The largest official attendance for a meeting between the sides came in 1986, when 77,848 flocked to the Estadio Nacional to witness a 1-1 draw.

Who is Chile?

"Who is Chile? Colo Colo! Who is Colo Colo? Chile!" sing the fiercely proud fans of Los Albos. And when it comes to silverware, they are undisputedly the country´s top side.

Not only have Colo Colo won the most league championships (24), they are also the only Chilean club to have lifted South America´s Copa Libertadores (1991). They are also the biggest points winner in league history, ahead of Universidad de Chile, who have won ´a mere´ 12 league titles to date.

In addition, Colo Colo hold a clear advantage in the teams´ head-to-head record: in 156 games played, the Cacique have 67 wins (265 goals) against 43 for the Chunchos (201), with another 46 ties finishing all square. However, since La U returned to the first division in 1992, they have redressed the balance somewhat, winning 16 of the 39 games played to their rival´s 12.

In fact, the first derby played after their return to the top flight, a 2-0 for Universidad de Chile on 12 July 1992, is also relevant to Sunday´s tie. The villain of the piece that day for Colo Colo was their current coach Claudio Borghi, the Argentine having missing the chance to score from the spot.

As any of the country´s footballers will attest, the big Santiago derby is the game in Chile. A case in point is the great Ivan Zamorano. Despite taking part in such classic duels as Real Madrid-Barcelona in Spain, Inter-AC Milan in Italy, and America-Chivas in Mexico, the retired striker insists: "Of all the derbies I´ve played in my life, Colo Colo-Universidad de Chile is by far the most important.
